Keratoconus – Stabilization – Cross-linking

It is very important to remember that cross-linking is the only non-invasive method for treating keratoconus.

It was developed at the University Hospital of Dresden by Prof. Seiler and Prof. Spoerl, where I completed part of my training.

YAG Laser (German Company Zeiss)

For secondary cataract, laser treatment can be performed at our center. Sessions last only a few minutes and are painless. It is an essential laser used for treating secondary cataract and certain types of glaucoma.

Laser for Retinal Tear Barricade

As a result of the sudden detachment of the vitreous body inside the eye, retinal tears may occur.

These tears MUST be sealed with a special LASER, which is available at our center.

Laser for Diabetics and Conditions After Vascular Occlusions

At our center we use the laser by the German company NAVILAS. The only one in Cyprus that can perform laser treatment even without contact with the eye and with infrared mode, meaning much less pain and discomfort for the patient, without reducing effectiveness.

Cataract Surgery

If vision is not satisfactory or the cataract is significant, the correct and only treatment is its surgical removal. The old belief that a cataract must “mature” before removal does not apply in modern cataract surgery; on the contrary, waiting may increase intraoperative risks.

Ioanna Tarasidou

Ioanna Tarasidou is a physician and ophthalmic surgeon, a graduate of the Medical School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She specialized in Ophthalmology at the General Hospital of Athens “G. Gennimatas”, gaining experience in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of eye conditions and in ophthalmic surgery.

She holds a postgraduate diploma in “Optics and Vision” from the University of Crete and has a particular interest in macular diseases, glaucoma, and refractive procedures (LASIK, PRK).

Since 2020 she has maintained a private practice in Athens, offering comprehensive services in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases, with an emphasis on personalized patient care.

She is a member of the Cyprus Ophthalmological Society (CYOS) and actively participates in scientific conferences and educational programs, continuously following developments in modern ophthalmology.
